Network Engineer (Network & Security)

Overview
An opportunity for a Network Engineer to support the delivery and ongoing operation of enterprise network and security environments across data centre and cloud platforms. This role is hands-on, focused on project implementation, operational support, and continuous improvement of network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of network and security solutions across core, edge, and perimeter environments
  • Assist with data centre migrations, network upgrades, and cloud integration projects
  • Configure and maintain routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VXLAN)
  • Deploy and support firewalls (Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Fortinet, Cisco, Juniper)
  • Implement and maintain secure connectivity (IPSec VPN, SD-WAN, cloud interconnects)
  • Monitor and support security controls, including IPS, SIEM, and threat detection tools
  • Support load balancing and application delivery platforms (F5, Netscaler)
  • Assist with infrastructure automation and configuration management
  • Provide BAU support, incident resolution, and participate in change management processes
  • Work with internal teams and stakeholders to support project delivery and operations
  • Maintain compliance with security and governance frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, Essential 8)

Skills & Experience

  • 5-8 years’ experience in network engineering and/or security
  • Strong hands-on experience with routing, switching, and network operations
  • Experience supporting firewall and security platforms
  • Exposure to cloud networking (AWS and/or Azure)
  • Familiarity with monitoring and security tools (e.g. Splunk, Tufin)
  • Basic experience or exposure to automation tools (e.g. Terraform)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and stakeholder engagement abilities

Qualifications

  • Degree in IT or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Relevant certifications (CCNA/CCNP, Security+ or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Experience in enterprise, financial services, or telco environments
  • Exposure to ITIL processes and security frameworks
