G’day, I’m Josh Kitchin, my friends call me “Kitcho” or “Kitch” for short and I am a C Grade Cricketer, B Grade Golfer and an A Grade Recruiter. I like dogs, but my Strata does not, so I have settled for a family of houseplants. When I am not watching sport, golfing or watering plants, I look after Technology Recruitment at Mode. That means everything from Cloud, to Support, to Software Development and Product Management.
My niche specialisation is Platform Recruitment, including DevOps, Site Reliability, Platform and Automation Engineering. It’s here where I cut my teeth when I moved from teaching into recruitment and it is where I have had the bulk of my success and built the majority of my connections. My network in this space runs deep and I have the Meetup I created and the community it created to thank for that.
I am the founder and host of Infrastructure Coders Sydney, a community first technology Meetup that enables engineers and technologists to connect with each other and share their journeys with cutting edge technologies that they have had the challenge of implementing. It is through this medium that I have made great connections, networks and friends within the industry, who trust me when building their teams, or for me to guide them on their next career move.
A lot of the connections in my networks are Internal Recruiters, who appreciate my understanding of internal processes after my stint on the “inside” as a Talent Acquisition Manager for SafetyCulture, a high growth Software Scale-Up that achieved “Unicorn Status” in 2020. This experience was an invaluable lesson of what hiring success looks like and taught me how to raise the bar on hiring quality & velocity. I have since used this knowledge & experience to enable other Start-Up’s, Scale-Up’s and Software companies to reach their unique hiring targets.
I’d like to brag about having a life outside of recruitment but I am annoyingly available and often taking calls on weekends & on the golf course. I have a deep interest in technology & a passion for helping people (I think it’s the teacher in me). Tech Recruitment allows me to light both of these fires, which is why I love my job. So reach out to me if you would like assistance scaling your team, improving your hiring processes, finding your next career move or just to talk about life (Probably sport or plants). There is no such thing as a silly question, so fire away!
